Many Christians don't see the harm in partaking in the unholy pagan days such as Christmas, Easter, and Halloween. They see Halloween as "innocent fun," and Christmas as Christ's birth, and Easter as Christ's resurrection.
Halloween has nothing in Christ:
"all things prove; that which is good hold fast; from all appearance of evil abstain ye; and the God of the peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved unblameably in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ;" -1 Thessalonians 5:21-23
- Christians are called to be Christians in ALL things.
- Christians are called to be doing and partaking in that which is GOOD.
- Christians are commanded to abstain from ALL appearance of evil. This means even if you don't think it is actually evil, you are not to partake even if it just has the "harmless" appearance of it.
- Christians are to be sanctified in God. Sanctify means to be set apart as holy. Set apart as holy means the Christian doesn't do the things the world does that gives an appearance of evil, such as Halloween, for example.
As for Christmas, Christ wasn't born on December 25th, the pagan God Baal was. Jesus was born around September 29, 3BC, as the Scriptures clearly teach us.
The Scriptures repeatedly say Christians are not supposed to serve Baal in any way, and this includes Baal's holy days. Christians are not supposed to celebrate "Christmas."
As for Easter, Easter is the English name of the goddess Ashtoreth. The Scriptures tell us that we, as children of God, are not supposed to serve Ashtoreth, or keep any of her holy days. Jesus didn't resurrect on Easter, He resurrected three days after Passover, as the Scriptures clearly tell us. Christians are not supposed to celebrate Easter.
Why is it any big deal if Christians partake in these pagan days or not? Just as long as the Christians aren't purposely celebrating the false gods, does it matter? YES, it does. The Scriptures teach us that there are demons behind the false gods:
"They sacrifice to demons -- no god! Gods they have not known -- New ones -- from the vicinity they came; Not feared them have your fathers!" -Deuteronomy 32:17
These people were making sacrifices to other gods - false gods, and the above says that in actuality, these false gods weren't actually gods, but were DEMONS.
There are demons behind the false gods, and false gods are behind Halloween, Easter, and Christmas.
Christians are told that they are not to partake of the festivities of these demons, in addition to following the one, true God. Christians are supposed to choose to go for God fully, or not at all. Professing children of God are forbidden from partaking of the Lord God, in addition to the festivities of the demons/false gods - which are behind those holidays:
"what then do I say? that an idol is anything? or that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything? -- [no,] but that the things that the nations sacrifice -- they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not wish you to come into the fellowship of the demons. Ye are not able the cup of the Lord to drink, and the cup of demons; ye are not able of the table of the Lord to partake, and of the table of demons;" -1 Corinthians 10:19-21
- We see above that the idol is nothing (for example in modern days - the Easter Bunny and the Christmas tree).
- However, the above teaches us that it's not the idol that's the big deal, it's the POWER behind the idol - the false god it represents is backed by a real demon - "the things that the nations sacrifice -- they sacrifice to
demons and not to God." Therefore the idol itself holds no power, but the Christian is not to have or keep the idol, for there is a demon behind it, and further, and idol is an appearance of evil.
- Christians are told to not have any fellowship with demons - "I do not wish you to come into the fellowship of the demons."
- A person partaking of the Lord is not to also partake "of the table of demons."
The Scriptures don't only tell us to not worship the false gods/demons, but that we are not to serve them either, and partaking in their holy days serves them whether we acknowledge these demons' existence or not:
"Thou dost not bow thyself to them, nor serve them: for I, Jehovah thy God, [am] a zealous God, charging iniquity of fathers on sons, on the third [generation], and on the fourth, of those hating Me" -Exodus 20:5
Jesus says we are either for or against Him, not both:
"`He who is not with me is against me, and he who is not gathering with me, doth scatter." -Matthew 12:30
Those who claim to be Christians, but who are also trying to keep the world/pagan holidays and service to the gods of their youth, etc. make Christ want to vomit:
"I have known thy works, that neither cold art thou nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. So -- because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to vomit thee out of my mouth;" -Revelation 3:15-16
God calls His children to have perfect hearts after Him:
"and be not conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, for your proving what [is] the will of God -- the good, and acceptable, and perfect." -Romans 12:2
"And I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment" -1 Corinthians 1:10
"Having, then, these promises, beloved, may we cleanse ourselves from every pollution of flesh and spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God" -2 Corinthians 7:1
God defines what a perfect heart after Him is, via King David. David was an adulterer and a murderer, yet he repented, but that's not why his heart was perfect with Jehovah. It's deeper than that:
"And it
cometh to pass, at the time of the old age of Solomon, his wives have
turned aside his heart after other gods, and his heart hath not been
perfect with Jehovah his God, like the heart of David his father. And Solomon goeth after Ashtoreth god[dess] of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites; and Solomon doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and hath not been fully after Jehovah, like David his father." -1 Kings 11:4-6
- Solomon, the man who was given wisdom by God Himself, was not perfect like David his father was.
- The above says Solomon wasn't perfect because he went after the false gods (which have demons behind them). We see mentioned: Ashtoreth - which is Easter in English, and Milcom, which is another name for Molech or Baal - the false deity supposedly born around December 25th. Solomon went after the predecessors to Easter and Christmas!
- Yet, we see that Solomon didn't abandon God. He kept worshipping Jehovah God, while adding Ashtoreth and Milcom - "and hath not been fully after Jehovah, like David his father."
For a child of God to be perfect in the eyes of Jehovah, the Christian must be FULLY after Jehovah, like King David was. David wasn't actually perfect, he messed up, but he repented and received full pardon and forgiveness from God the Father. David was considered perfect, because he didn't go after the demon religious things of the peoples of the land, he stayed fully after the One, True God, and after Him alone.
Christian, this is what God wants. Will you be perfect?
