Be careful about determining a truth based off of what people say the Bible says, or doesn't say. For example, where was the approximate location of the Tree of Life? People will say that the Scriptures don't tell us, but the Bible gives us a pretty good idea. Just study the location of the future Tree of Life in Revelation.
People will say that the Bible doesn't tell us when Jesus was born, but that's not true. It gets us pretty close, and if you compare the priestly courses with watching the constellation Virgo (in Stellarium, for example) and compare all this to the Jewish feasts, we find that Jesus was likely born on or very near September 29, 3bc. We know the Bible is very clear that "Christmas" is an abomination, and any Christian partaking in it, knowing what it really is, is committing spiritual adultery. But what of the "Christmas spirit?"
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" -1 Timothy 4:1
How many professing Christians are seduced by the spirit of Christmas, into partaking in the pagan festivities, which have just been renamed with "Christian" names, but are still pagan to their very core? These are doctrines of devils.
"What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils." -1 Corinthians 10:19-21
1) An idol itself isn't anything in and of itself.
2) A sacrifice unto an idol isn't anything in and of itself.
3) However, there are devils behind these idols and false pagan practices - "the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils."
4) Partaking in pagan festivities isn't about the idol, or the pagan practice, it's about the fact that when one does so, they are having "fellowship with devils."
5) Jesus says in the Gospels that we are either for Him, or against Him. This is reiterated above, where it says "ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils." In other words, you can't be partaking in pagan religious festivities (such as Christmas and Easter), and still think you are being true to God.
The spirit of Christmas is a devil. This is clear, because there are devils behind all pagan practices. The Christmas tree is clearly an idol:
"Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not." -Jeremiah 10:2-4
How many Christians bow down in front of Christmas trees each year? Sadly, a lot. They kneel or bow before it, each time they place or remove a gift under it.
"Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the Lord." -Jeremiah 3:13
Even if you are not "worshiping" the Christmas tree, if you are partaking in it in any way, then you are serving the spirit of Christmas, which is a devil:
"That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them." -Joshua 23:7
The above doesn't say you can do some of those things, but not all, it says you aren't to do any of them. You may not be worshiping the Christmas tree, or the spirit of Christmas, but if you at all partake in Christmas, then according to the above quoted Scriptures, you are having fellowship with a devil (the true spirit of Christmas), and are serving a false god. The above is clear that you are not to do all, or any of the below:
- swear by them
- serve them
- bow down to them
A professing Christian partaking in Christmas (and Easter) festivities in any way, is automatically serving the devil behind it. You don't have to swear by that devil, believe in that devil, or bow down to it in order to serve it. You just need to do what it wants, and you are serving it, regardless if you acknowledge that fact, or not.
Come out of her, my people, says the Lord.
