"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." -Psalm 19:1
God created the solar system. He created the Milky Way Galaxy. He created the universe. He created our beautiful planet earth. He created you.
"Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth." - Isaiah 40:26
The Lord created everything - time, space, and matter...
"In the beginning [time] God created the heaven [space] and the earth [matter]." -Genesis 1:1
These things were not created millions of years ago, but only thousands. We know this not only because of what we read in the Bible, but also because of true science. You see, evolution is a 'science falsely so called:'
"O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called" -1 Timothy 6:20
Evolution is a false religion, masquerading as a science:
"And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things." -Romans 1:23
"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive" -Ephesians 4:14
True science always matches up with the Bible. It does this, because God is the author of science, and He is the author of the Bible.
The universe can't be millions of years old. Take a look at comets, for example. Comets look to be true members of the solar system, and are therefore limited in how many there are. If the solar system were millions or billions of years old, then our complete supply of comets should have run out, long ago. There should be no comets left, but we see that is certainly not the case.
Look at the moon. If it were as old as we're told, then the first man to walk on the moon should have sunk in thick layers of dust, yet he didn't. Further, the moon should be completely dead, yet there is a three mile diameter, active volcano that was discovered on the dark side of the moon, which glaringly points to a young moon; not one that is millions or billions years old.
Look here on earth. Carbon dating is a flawed science, and due to the differences in our atmosphere before the flood, it is a highly inaccurate dating system. "Fossil fuels" have been found to actually be a renewable resource, and are not what we first thought. Insane circular reasoning abounds, such as one's stating that they can tell the age of a fossil by the layer of earth it is in, and they can tell how old a certain layer of earth is, via the fossils found in it.
Evolution and the old earth theory are founded on flawed premises, with no actual facts to back them up, except for errant dating techniques, and outlandish theories, which in actuality, hold no water.
God's creation is marvelous! How much do you know about our young solar system? How many planets are there? If you said 9 (or 8) you are mistaken. There are at least 14 or 15, and perhaps more. Let us take a tour of the current known planets of our solar system:
Mercury
Terrestrial Planet
One day on Mercury is 59 of our earth days. It takes 88 Earth days for Mercury to go around the sun. That means a Mercury year is less than two Mercury days.
Venus
Terrestrial Planet, covered under a shroud of sulfuric acid
Venus is our solar system's brightest planet. Its yellow clouds of sulfuric acid reflect the sun's light.
Earth
Terrestrial Planet
Three fourths of our beautiful planet is covered by water. So far, Earth is the only planet found that is able to sustain life. Did God create life on other planets? So far, it doesn't look like it, but there is life out there, in the form of angels and devils. Click here for information about this.
Mars
Terrestrial Planet
Mars is currently known as the reddest planet, but there is a contender. It is also known for the Olympus Mons, which is the largest current known volcano in the solar system.
Ceres
Dwarf Planet
Discovered in 1801, Ceres is currently the smallest known dwarf planet in our solar system, and the only known planet to reside in the asteroid belt.
Jupiter
Gas Giant
Jupiter is the largest planet we know of in our solar system so far. A day on Jupiter is about 9 hours and 55 minutes. The red spot on this colossal planet is the biggest, and most violent storm we know of in the universe so far.
Saturn
Gas Giant
Saturn is currently known as the lightest planet in the solar system. Its beautiful rings are thought to be from a moon that may have been shattered.
Uranus
Gas Giant
Uranus is an odd planet, as its axis is at a 97-degree angle, and it spins on its side.
Neptune
Gas Giant
Like Jupiter, Neptune has a dark spot caused by a storm. However, Neptune's storm is quite a bit smaller than Jupiter's. Neptune was discovered in 1846. It takes this brilliant gas giant 165 earth years to make a complete orbit around the sun. It made its first full orbit around the sun, since its discovery, in the year 2011.
Pluto
Dwarf Planet(s)
Sometimes Pluto's orbit brings the little planet closer to the sun than Neptune. This happened in 1989, and continued that way, until 1999. Pluto was discovered in 1930. Pluto has four known moons. By far, the largest one is Charon, which was discovered on June 22, 1978. In proportion to Pluto, Charon is large enough to be considered by some scientists as another dwarf planet. Those who deem Charon a dwarf planet, describe its and Pluto's relationship as a "double planet."
Eris
Dwarf Planet
Eris was discoverd in Januray, 2005. Eris takes around 550 earth years to orbit the sun. Most of the time it is further from the sun than Pluto, but occasionally, its orbit brings it closer. This newly discovered planet is larger than Pluto, and is called by many "the tenth planet." Those who count Eris as the tenth planet do not count Ceres as a planet, nor do they consider Pluto's Charon a dwarf planet. In this case, we'd have 1)Mercury; 2)Venus; 3)Earth; 4)Mars; 5)Jupiter; 6)Saturn;7)Uranus; 8)Neptune; 9)Pluto; 10)Eris.
Others consider Eris the twelfth planet, as they count Ceres as a dwarf planet, and Pluto's Charon as anther dwarf planet. In this case, we'd have 1)Mercury; 2)Venus; 3)Earth; 4)Mars; 5)Ceres; 6)Jupiter; 7)Saturn; 8)Uranus; 9) Neptune; 10&11) Pluto and Charon; 12)Eris.
Makemake
Dwarf Planet
This little planet was discovered on March 31, 2005. It is about 2/3 the size of Pluto. Makemake is a Kuiper belt object, which means its orbit does not cross that of Neptune.
Haumea
Dwarf Planet
Haumea and Makemake switch places, in regards to which is closer and which is further from the sun, in certain areas of their orbits. Haumea was discovered in 2004, and is one of the smallest known dwarf planets, with a mass that is one-third of that of Pluto. What makes Haumea intriguing, is that this little planet is not round, but rather egg shaped. The designation of "Haumea" fits this planet, as "Haumea" was a fertility goddess, and eggs are often portrayed as a fertility symbol. Haumea's orbit shows it to be a Kuiper-belt object. It takes it about 283 earth years to orbit the sun.
Sedna
Dwarf Planet
Sedna was discovered on November 14, 2003. To date, this little planet is the furthest known dwarf planet in our solar system. It is a very red planet, whose redness seems to be rivaled only by Mars. The size of Sedna is unknown. At first, it was thought to be 1,000 kilometers in diameter, but later, it was thought to instead be smaller than Charon. Its actual size is still in debate and currently unknown. Sedna is the brightest planet discovered since Pluto in 1930.
Sedna has the longest orbital period of any known large object in the Solar System found so far. It takes around 11,400 years to complete one orbit around the sun.
How Many Planets do we Have in our Solar System?
There may yet be more planets we haven't discovered, but currently, we have 13-15 known planets, depending on how you count:
13 Planets:
1)Mercury; 2)Venus; 3)Earth; 4)Mars; 5)Jupiter; 6)Saturn;7)Uranus; 8)Neptune; 9)Pluto; 10)Eris; 11)Makemake; 12)Haumea; 13)Sedna
14 Planets:
1)Mercury; 2)Venus; 3)Earth; 4)Mars; 5)Ceres; 6)Jupiter; 7)Saturn; 8)Uranus; 9) Neptune; 10)Pluto; 11)Eris; 12)Makemake; 13)Haumea; 14)Sedna
15 Planets:
1)Mercury; 2)Venus; 3)Earth; 4)Mars; 5)Ceres; 6)Jupiter; 7)Saturn; 8)Uranus; 9) Neptune; 10&11)Pluto and Charon; 12)Eris; 13)Makemake; 14)Haumea; 15)Sedna
Other Variations
Some consider Sedna to be the twelfth planet. In order to come to this number, they remove Haumea, the egg-shaped one, from being a planet. They also do not count Ceres or Charon. In this case, you'd have:
1)Mercury; 2)Venus; 3)Earth; 4)Mars; 5)Jupiter; 6)Saturn; 7)Uranus; 8)Neptune; 9)Pluto; 10)Eris; 11)Makemake; 12)Sedna
